Today, during the profound mystery that is Holy Week, I would like to share two items. The first is an article by Debra Vermeer in the Good Oil. She interviewed Dr Phyllis Zagano and myself about the possibility of women deacons arising from the Synod on Synodality. Since then, in exciting news, Pope Francis has announced that the topic will not be debated at the October session of the Synod, but seriously studied in a Working Group that will report mid next year.
Secondly, Geraldine Doogue hosted Gail Gill and myself at the Catalyst for Renewal forum in Sydney. We had a great in-depth conversation about the diaconate, and the first part (before audience question time) was audio recorded for Catalyst’s website. Please listen to the recording at this link:

God bless you all with life and hope as we proceed through Jesus’ paschal journey this week.

Both interviews are most inspiring and a credit to you, Elizabeth!
