Secondly, I am extremely grateful for all your words, prayers and gifts in support of my upcoming pilgrimage to Rome with Discerning Deacons for the opening week of the Synod’s October 2024 session (see earlier post).

Some of you have checked in about the needs, so here are the possibilities for supporting myself and my fellow pilgrims:

  • Financial support: The estimated cost for each participant is $3,000 (US), and we are pooling our funds to ensure every participant can make it to Rome. My plane ticket alone from Broken Hill costs over $3000 (Aus), and there are accommodation and food expenses. So far, I have had $2,144 (US) donated towards my trip. Thank you so much for all your generous support! If anyone else would like to make a donation, the link is here (note donations are in $US): https://discerningdeacons.org/donations/pilgrimage/ Please write my name (Elizabeth Young) in the comments so I will be alerted and can thank you for your donation. If you prefer to make a different kind of contribution, please let me know.
  • Your prayers: With only a month to go until the trip, I ask that you pray for both the synodal process and for our pilgrim group as we prepare and travel. May the Spirit lead and guide us!

Your generosity and kindness has been bolstering me with inspiration, and I really feel that we will go in spirit together. So many share their diaconal witness every day, in many ways. I will post updates as I can through/after the pilgrimage on this blog.

God bless and Peace, Elizabeth
