Preparing for the Feast

28 August 2025

I love making plans for a shared meal. At our parish dinners, whenever we have a clergy visit, although we all plan individually, we always seem to have an abundance of everything. That is what I am expecting for this upcoming Feast of St Phoebe, the 3rd of September.

We firstly put out information to parishes around Australia for celebrating in local ways. So there may be a sprinkling of happenings and awareness-raising throughout the land.

Secondly, we are planning our fourth annual webinar, from 7:30-9:00pm AEST on the Feast day. I have to say that the program is looking incredible and we have drawn on a number of very talented and creative people to share their input – how they are Inspired by St Phoebe and the Mystics. For those who have been asking, it will be recorded and uploaded to this blog later. Please register if you have not yet already:

Thirdly, watch this space! At the webinar, we will be launching a public document called Potential for Women Deacons in the Australian Catholic Churches. See a sneak preview below:

It will be available on this blog shortly after. Very exciting!

Finally, we wish all those who are celebrating Feast of St Phoebe events well, both in Australia and in other countries. Several of us will be joining webinar events from afar at various times of the day/night.

So all the ingredients are there for a wonderful Feast! God bless and have a very blessed celebration of the inspiration of the deacon, St Phoebe!
